Oakley was blessed on December 28, 2008 by her daddy. We blessed her that Sunday so that my brother & sister who live out of town could be there for it. Ryan gave a beautiful blessing. Both of our families were able to be there for it and then we had a couple of our friends, the Holts and Spencer Whittaker, come up as well. Afterwards we had a dinner at our home to celebrate the blessing. It was crazy but we had a good time and I'm glad that we have such good family support.
Oakley's blanket, which is in the pictures, was crocheted by my sister, Heather. It is actually quite soft and heavy, it kept Oakley's little bare legs quite warm! Thanks Heather for the beautiful blanket.

In this picture Oakley is with a very close friend of mine, Kim Whimpey. A couple of months before Oakely was born Kim asked if she could make Oak's blessing dress. I was very excited that she would be willing to take the time to make Oakley a special dress just for her. So she kept bugging me as to how I wanted the dress to be - I just told her there is only one thing I don't want the dress to be - and that is 4 feet long! I don't love the extremely long dresses (personal preference!) I like the dress to look like they fit the baby. So she said ok and I didn't really hear too much more about it.

Then when I found out that the Doctor was going to start me I told Kim and she got kind of this worried look on her face and says, "I guess I'd better start making her blessing dress then." I will admit, I was a little worried that she might not get one done for her in time - I had no idea how long something like that would take. But she got it done - she brought over the dress the Saturday before she was blessed. Kim didn't think she had made the dress small enough or the booties small enough - but Oakley has quite big feet so they fit perfectly. The dress fit like she had taken a pattern right off her, it couldn't have been any more of a perfect fit.

Mindy, that picture on the first of your blog is soooo cute. I LOVE Oakley and her Aunt Heather is sending her big hugs.
I didn't know Heather could do that kind of stuff! I suck at it. It is beautiful! Oakley is beautiful as well. And I agree, I am not big on the long dresses. I think that one is beautiful.
