Yankees Tee-Ball: Game #1

Tuesday was Dallon's first Tee-Ball game. Grandpa Dennis says you can't call it a "game" since NO ONE gets out, there are NO strikes and they DON'T even keep score! But for Dallon it was definitely a game. He was so excited! A couple of weeks before we went and bought him some baseball pants, we actually found some that fit him, and Ryan bought him a new bat that hardly weighs anything (but sure cost a pretty penny - you would have thought it was dipped in gold!). He looked very cute in his "Yankees" (#23) baseball jersey and his NY Yankees hat. He was ready for the majors.

Ryan is Dallon's coach this year (and probably will be every year!). They have 10 players on their team this year. There are 5 different teams and 2 of those are girl teams. They play about 7 games, so this goes through the end of June. Wahoo... [Can you hear the excitement in my voice?] The last practice went pretty well, but only half the kids showed up, so some of the kids didn't even know you were to run (yes run) after they hit the ball off the tee! It was pretty comical.

The opposing team's coach was Matt Payne, who is a good friend of ours. So it was kind of fun to play against them as the first game. Matt's wife, Amanda, and I had been exchanging comical practice experiences... We both were a little afraid about what might happen at the first game - was someone going to get knocked out, trampled on... who knew what to expect. But the kids did GREAT! There were no major injuries. I will have to mention, that little Logan Payne is quite the competitive 5 year old! Next year we will have to get Dallon & Logan on the same team! :)

Dallon did great! He hit off the tee the first swing each time and made good hits. He played first base for most of the game and even got an "out" and then was moved to short stop after that (which basically means he got to talk to everyone in the "out field"). He's quite the tee-ball player!

NEXT GAME: TUESDAY, MAY 12TH @ 6:00
